I have trained in the martial arts for 27 years, and have had the privilege of training in some of the finest schools in America, with some of the greatest Masters of the Traditional Korean art of Tang Soo Do, as well as with other martial arts masters across the country. The staff at 'www.InterlockingFloorMat.com' immediately sent us a sample. I was amazed at the quality, resilience, and thickness of the flooring/puzzlemat (approx. > 1.5 inches’ thick), and the dimensions were enormous, the largest I have seen available, at over 40’ inches X ’40 inches.
We compared the flooring quality to every other option available, and did a cost/investment/benefit evaluation, and determined that it was the best value, as compared to padded carpet, which is the approx. same costs, but...you can’t take carpet with you!
To say it was a good investment would be an understatement, not only because of the reasons mentioned, but our parents and older adults comment on how they feel less anxiety because the flooring is safer, and more lenient on our kids and older martial artists, when doing rolls, accidental falls, or ground-fighting. This means they enjoy their training more, and it can actually increase your student base, and your student’s training consistency.
The cushioning effect during “take-downs", ground fighting, and sweeping and throwing techniques is unsurpassed. An adult or child can easily fall on this flooring and not get injured, rolls and tumbling are more enjoyable since the flooring absorbs the impact….not your body!
